Be an Aunt or Uncle and Go Have Fun!

A great way to get started with AFS is to volunteer to be an Aunt and Uncle family to an AFS student. Aunts and Uncle families are asked to do one activity with their AFS “niece or nephew” each month. Take them to a movie, have them over for dinner, go for a hike, or even take them on a weekend get away with your family. While you benefit from the enjoyment of learning about the student’s country, he or she will be exposed to a different lifestyle from that of his or her host family and will gain a better understanding of our culture.
